A DOT Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) evaluation is a federally mandated assessment required under Department of Transportation regulation 49 CFR Part 40. This evaluation is necessary for transportation employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol regulations and must complete the return-to-duty process.
